Application Process for Academies of Loudoun

This guide is for the fall application cycle, the cycle in which almost all applicants submit their applications. The cycle begins in the middle of August for Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET) and Academy of Science (AOS). The window closes close to the end of October (October 25th in the 2021 application cycle). The fall admissions testing sessions occur in the first weeks of November, and the results come out in March. Between March and August students must accept or decline all offers.

There is a middle school math requirement for AOS and AET. In the past, the middle school math requirement for AOS is Algebra 1 and AET is Geometry. You will have to check with the school website to determine the exact requirement based on the year. In the past, there have been four required assessments (CCTDI, STEM Thinking Skills Assessment, CCTST-N, and Writing Assessment). During the pandemic, the school reduced the number of assessments to two required assessments (STEM Thinking Skills Assessment and Writing Assessment). There are two testing dates, which usually occur in November.

Loudoun County Schools have also been working on increasing diversity of students represented at these schools, making sure that all middle schools have representation at AOS and AET, and more diverse eligible applicants can take advantage of the opportunities at the high schools.

I hope this helps, and thank you so much for reading! Best of luck. – Naman
